Mr. McCabe is a recent graduate of the MFA in Creative Writing low-residency program at the University of Tampa, in Tampa, Florida. His poetry has appeared twice in RFD magazine (Summer 2015 and Summer 2016), and recently his poem, “Junky” was published in Sunny Side Down: A Charles Bukowski Tribute. Two of his fiction pieces were published: one in Discovery, a collection of LGBTQ science fiction, fantasy and horror stories, published by QPB Press in 2015, the other, “Gotterdammerung” in Dawn of the Trump, a collection of Dystopian fiction. In 2018, he published his first collection of poetry, “Junk” with Dark Horse Florida Publishing, LLC and a short story, “The Witch’s Tale,” in the Running Wild Anthology of Stories, Volume 4, Book 2, published by Running Wild Press, in 2020. He has performed at several open mics including The Studio@620, the First Stop Poetry Fusion Open Mic in St. Petersburg, Florida and, The Blueberry Patch in Gulfport, Florida.
These fifty-seven poems are Poems of Love and Loss, Women of Mythology, Family Portraits, and Ekphrastic offerings. While the work of Poet Rob McCabe has been included in other collections and occasional, local outlets, this is the first collection composed entirely of his work.
While many of these poems are directly dedicated to him, many of the other poems in this collection reflect a frankness of Queer sexuality, love, death, and hope which are, in a roundabout way, written with Frank O’Hara in spirit.
